"To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name."

In the aftermath of the events of 11 September the phrase from the passage above: "See, I have placed before you an open door!" began ringing in my heart.

Jesus says to us, His church in Love City (Philadelphia), "See, I have placed before you an open door!"

I believe He is saying to us:

"See, open your eyes, you weren't aware of Muslims before, now you are. There is a door open before you." He has opened a door in His Church of awareness of the Muslim world.
 
"See, open your eyes, I died for them as well as for you. I love them with the same love as I do you." The door of His heart has always been open to Muslims -- to all peoples.
 
"See, open your eyes, the doors of the hearts of many are open, ready for the Gospel." And that includes Muslims specially at this time.

Let us go through the open door of our new awareness of Muslims -- of His great love for them -- to bring the message from Love City: "Jesus loves you so much that He died for you!"

Let us pray for Muslims and share Jesus with them -- whether they be the local gas station attendant or a Pashtun peasant in Afghanistan.

Jesus has opened a door that no one can shut!
